Although it is easier said than done, but Tottenham forward Harry Kane is confident that he can end this season with the Golden Boot award despite competition from Mohamed Salah.
The Englishman was scoring for fun before he injured his ankle against Bournemouth and missed around a month.
Kane came back and played 20 minutes in his team’s 1-3 victory against Chelsea last Sunday.
The 24-year-old played a full 90 minutes against Stoke at the weekend as Spurs beat Stoke City with Christian Eriksen scoring twice although Kane would like to claim one of them.
Kane is on 24 goals while Liverpool‘s Mohamed Salah has already scored 29 but has one game less.
Here’s what Kane had to say: “Look, whatever happens, there are still games to go. I’ve got to focus on my game. I can’t control what he (Salah) does.
“Obviously as a striker, it would be great to win the Golden Boot again and I will keep working hard from now until the end of the season.
When asked about the goal that he thinks should count for him: “I swear on my daughter’s life that I touched the ball, but there’s nothing I can do. If they [the Premier League] turn it around, they turn it around. If they take my word, they take my word.
“It is what it is – the most important thing is that we won the game.”
On his injury: “It’s all positive. The ankle feels fine. We’ve got a week now to train and I’ll get stronger and stronger.
“It happened similar last year and I came back strong and that’s what I’m aiming to do this summer and take that into the World Cup. I feel good at the moment and it’s important I stay fit and healthy and help the team.”
